The Center for Biology Education develops and coordinates activities and programs in biology education at the K-12 and undergraduate levels. CBE program directors have backgrounds and training in a variety of biology disciplines as well as in the field of education. Members of UW-Madison's biological sciences research community - faculty, staff and students participate actively in developing and implementing Center activities. CBE enriches the undergraduate learning experience at UW-Madison by providing information about resources and opportunities for students in the biological sciences, offering student research experiences in faculty labs and supporting faculty/staff who are interested in improving undergraduate instruction in the sciences. Outreach activities promote inquiry-based learning, engage teachers and students directly with scientists and share the excitement of scientific discovery with precollege students and K-12 teachers by:
